The issues we discuss in Religious Studies are constantly relevant to real world events that are happening all around us. Every week we take one instance of RS in the News and look at some of the questions it raises.
Trump bans refugees on Holocaust Memorial Day
On Friday, which was Holocaust Remembrance Day, Donald Trump signed an executive order suspending all refugee resettlement for 120 days.
In addition to banning Syrian refugees, the president ordered a ban on all entries of the nationals of seven majority-Muslim countries: Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen, for 90 days, and provided that the ban might be extended and that additional countries might be added to that list.

Many people have been quick to point out the irony of Trump announcing this on Holcaust Memorial Day. Already over the weekend there have been two right wing terrorist attacks targetting Muslims. It seems to many that the burning to the ground of the Islamic Centre Mosque in Victoria, Texas and the mosque shooting in Quebec are no coincidence. |

- Was Trump right?
- Does Trump's prejudice against Muslims acho the treatment of Jews in Nazi Germany?
- What can we do to fight against this kind of injustice?
